Vice President Rice?

Vice President Rice?

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

As the Presidential sweepstakes continues along its road to the DNC and RNC Conventions, one question lingers on the mind of every political pundit:  Who will Mitt Romney choose as his VP?

About an hour ago, the Romney campaign launched a contest by emailing supporters and friends.  This is what it says -

We’re getting ready to share some exciting news.  Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP.

Every week until the VP announcement is made, one lucky supporter will win the chance to meet Mitt and his choice for VP.

The email invites supporters to enter the contest for what could be one of the more revolutionary tickets ever assembled.  After all, Mitt will be the first Mormon to head a major party ticket.

Insiders are speculating on three names – former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Ohio Senator Rob Portman, and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.  Each has discipline, strength and would be exceptional choices for the ticket.  Florida Senator Marco Rubio is also on the minds of those who fear that Obama has a lock on the Hispanic vote.

I had the chance to see Secretary Rice in March at an event hosted by The Lincoln Club of Northern California and just two weeks ago at a SHE-PAC fundraiser in Washington, D.C.

A foreign policy expert with unmatched grace and style, Rice is also an accomplished pianist who currently serves as the Provost at Stanford University.

As the Granddaughter of Italian immigrants, I was inspired by her very name.  Con Dolcezza means “with sweetness” in Italian.  Republicans would indeed have a sweet presidential ticket if Rice is chosen.
