Dorm Room Interior Design

Colleges are seeing students lug more things to campus, but dorm rooms aren’t getting any bigger, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. With approximately 180-square-feet to work with, incoming freshmen need to be creative with their room.

Below, a list of the best ways to outfit your small space:

Get multiuse items. A padded ottoman can act as a chair, a table and a storage space.

Loft your bed. Many schools can arrange to have your bed raised, which can double your floor space. Alternatively, bed risers can bump your bed up eight to 10-inches to fit bins, luggage and extra drawers underneath.

Find space in odd places. Hanging shoe organizers or bedside pockets can help you utilize vertical space.
