Ann Romney: Mitt unfairly ‘demonized’

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s wife Ann said that her husband has been unfairly ‘demonized,’ during a joint appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press aired on Sunday.

Ann Romney said she took to the GOP convention stage to convey that her family has faced struggles even though they have been well off financially.

“Well, I think the thing that I want to communicate to people, and that it’s so important that people understand, is that Mitt and I do recognize that we have not had a financial struggle in our lives. But I want people to believe in their hearts that we know what it is like to struggle. And our struggles have not been financial, but they’ve been with health and with difficulties in different things in life,” she said, in an interview aired Sunday.

“And in particular, for Mitt — who really has been demonized in many ways as being heartless and for people to stand up and say, ‘Excuse me. He was there when my son was dying of leukemia. He came to my son’s bedside. He did all of these things for my son.’ And then another woman saying how Mitt was there for her. So there’s hundreds of those stories that haven’t been told,” she said.

“It was refreshing to me for the American people to finally be able to see the lens through which I see my husband and the perspective in which I understand how he operates,” Ann Romney added.

        I have read the book of morman and as a hospcie volunteer i have read all the books on the different religions. I wanted to know as much as I could b/c even people who consider themselves non religious turn to something when they are dying and I wanted to be able to know a little about many religions should they need to talk about it.
        The only one I don’t care for is Islam. Mohammed had lots of issues maybe you should read some books on that. I don’t disrespect any releigoin but this one I can’t warm up to.
        I think that you are reacting to the libs lies. Have you ever known someone with MS? or someone scared of dying from breast cancer? It changes you and the people who love you.
        The Bain talk is just that talk, in the best colleges today if you take finance you learn how to help people with money and I know I love going to Staples and they were helped by Bain.
        Look at him and his wife.lovely people who raised 5 kids and have 18 grandkids.Family , Faith and Country is what he stands for. I can look up to him. I can’t look up to Obama and who he is and what he has done the past 4 years.

    My husband and I are extremely proud of our candidates, the Romneys. We have suffered the loss of both of our children and know who devastating illness can be. We know how the idea to give up can conquer young people’s lives because of the lack of opportunities. We know that we have seen 3 years of our country desecrated by the present government’s lack of confidence in the people and drive to make the necessary cuts to balance our budget again. GOD BLESS, Mitt and Ann Romney–and hear our prayers to place them in the White House beginning in January, 2013. GOD BLESS AMERICA….AGAIN!!!!

    He has what is called humility, people. He isn’t a proud or arrogant man..He most likely wouldn’t have been a stake president ( leader of a group of congregations) if he was proud and/ or arrogant. I would trust him any day… before I would trust o. and his gang of czars etc., to be leading the United States. He has been in positions of trust. He what it takes to be a good leader. He should be given that opportunity.

    I believe that Milt Romney will lead the Country back into a full recovery. I do not expect miracles and I know he can fix what the current Admin has done. Over 23 million out of work, living on 99 weeks of unemployment, food stamps and some so depressed not finding work going on to Social Security Disability. What Obama has done to the USA is such a horrible thing, he is turning us to Socialists IMO.

    They love other people…they care and give through their church. Giving through a church is more of a guarantee that the $$$ and sweat will get to the people than most every other avenue. Seems the Democrats want to give, but to give by the Government’s $$$ which is other people’s $$$…at least most Democrats.
    Democrats don’t seem to like that Republicans and Conservatives give more of their own $$$ to help others. I would guess that is the main reason they demonize those who give with the hearts and wallets……

    Everyone has different struggles. The death of a child and or spouse is unimaginable. God tests us and strengthens us in different ways. I have learned to rely on Him even in the hard times by seeking His will. We need Romney in the white house to get our country back on tract. He has the experience and the faith.

    The current administration doesn’t connect with people of integrity, honesty or faith as they don’t know those qualities. Unfortunately, corruption & lies are the only way they know & they think everyone lives like they do. Give them enough rope & they will hang themselves, so the saying goes. I put nothing past them. The closer we get to Election Day the bigger the lies will be told about Mitt. Keep praying & make sure everyone you know has a ride to the Polls, providing they are going to vote for Mitt, of course!!

    They had to make up something to make him evil. So they came up with, he went to a good college-(Which he had to be accepted), He is rich.(Which he worked to be) A company that he had part in had overseas account (Which if I was rich, I wouldn’t want to put all my funds in American banks because the way Obama has this country going, who knows how financially sound American banks and the FICA is. Also,if ant tax breaks that Bain recieved were illegal, they would all be in jail.Obama would have made sure of that.) He is a Mormon. (Well, Obama is an admitted Muslim. How is being a Mormon a bad thing?) Romney doesn’t have any international experience.(Just like Obama didn’t 4 years ago. He proved have great he is at that when he didn’t know the mic was left on and told the Russian leader that once re-elected, he would be able to have alot more flexability or when he bowed to the Muslim leader?) Romney won’t show more than 2 years on his tax returns. (That is all that is required which I have never had to show any of my tax returns to get a job. As many records that Obama has sealed, he just needs to leave that one alone. I’m sure that Romney has paid all required taxes or he would have been arrested. Does anyone pay more taxes than they are supposed to? Does Obama pay more taxes then he is suppose to?) I am sure that the Obama campaign has tried to dig dirt 24/7. These are the worst they can come up with. I don’t see anything bad. Oh, then they say all the things that Romney is going to do bad with this or that. Like, he is going to raise taxes on the middle class, blah, blah blah. They are just making all this up and saying it like fact. Then the Obama campaign,supporters and Obama say Obama has done a great job, we just haven’t seen it yet. Americans that would go along with all this dirty lieing are just gullible. I pray everyday people can see through all this smoke.

    I don’t know why Democrats yell because Mitt has money. You didn’t yell at the Kennedys for that! If Mit can make money and be successful, maybe he can solve America’s financial problems and he has good moral’s and will involve God in his decisions, unlike others we have elected!

    Romney/Ryan will win! You have to be positive. If you haven’t done anything but respond to comments, then get up and talk to people, contact your county republican headquarters and get involved with finding out how you can go to a battle state to help with many things, Call your friends. We will win but we are going to have to work to get the job done. Get people to do their research…not just listen to NBC, CBS, ABC at their bigotry towards Republicans but steer them to FOX to hear balanced and fair reporting. Talk it up. America will not be the country we know it in four years if we don’t get up and rally the troops. We can do it.

    It is so refreshing to read comments on this site where there is no profanity, or disgusting descriptions of the opposite party. There were some horrible comments which I just read on Face Book, mostly written by liberal thinkers. It was so discouraging when reading these remarks, and I so wanted to post comments, but would not lower myself to do so. If only people could be civil, there opinions would mean something. Thanks for all the comments here, said with thoughtfulness and grace. We can be passionate without sounding “crass”. We need to see what both parties are saying, so we can be assured that we are voting for what we believe, and not what someone else thinks we should.
    We need Romney/Ryan to lead us back to what our USA is meant to be. We all need to remember 9/11, and pray for all that was lost to the families left behind. We must fight to rid out country of all the people who want to take us down.

      I have read the Book of Mormon. I’ve also read the Quran. Im not sure what the Book of Mormon has to do with Islam or Obama. I don’t think anyone has ever claimed he was a Mormon, but the Quran on the other hand might have something to do with him. Who cares if he’s Muslim? Who cares if he’s black? I sure don’t. I despise his wife and her foreign vacations on tax payer dollars while the US economy suffers. She could have vacationed in the States, teaching her children the history of the nation they lived in and supporting our economy. Instead, she chose to support the economy of foreign nations. Bad choice on her part. I despise the fact that she said she could only be proud to be an American AFTER her husband won the last election. Another bad choice on her part. I despise the way Obamacare is set up… I despise the impact it’s having on my family and our insurance that we have paid for for years… I despise his stand on abortion and Roe v. Wade. So, get off your high horse Obama Mammma… people don’t hate Obama because of race or religion… we hate him because his policies suck and his Presidency has been a slap in the face of all honest, hard working tax paying Americans who make sure their children have what they need without welfare (and I’m not down playing the help welfare has given to those who work and still need assistance… but those who refuse to get a job or even look for one and stay on welfare for a living need to stop being so lazy… and YES, I am PISSED at those lazy individuals who have iPhones, new Cars, and sit on their rears collecting MY tax dollars).     I can’t speak for others, but I, personally, would rather take my chances on Romney rather than another 4 years of Obama. We know what Obama’s agenda is. Do I believe in Mormomism? Absolutely not. But least Romney acknowledge’s God. He is also man enough to give credit to others instead of accepting all the credit, but passing all the blame.
