Editors Note: One of the women who has inspired me is Jillian Manus, President of Manus Media & Literary Agency, a communications, business development and brand expansion business.
Jillian represents people we all know – Democrats and Republicans – including Newt Gingrich, Meg Whitman, CA AG Kamala Harris, Surgeon General Richard Carmona, Dr. Louann Brizendine, Russell Simmons, Carlos Santana, Graham Nash, Kenneth Walsh, Howard Buffett, Mark Victor Hansen, Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run, Chris McCormack and retired San Francisco 49er Jerry Rice. She has been recognized as one of the top 50 women CEO’s in the country and chaired the largest women’s conference in the world – the Women’s Conference – under the direction of Maria Shriver. An amazing philanthropist, she supports causes like the Stanford Hospital Cancer Center and the InnVision Shelter Network (IVSN), an organization that helps homeless families and individuals return to a path of self-sufficiency, with purpose and pride. She’s a devoted wife and an active Mom to two teenagers.

As I have now been asked by the media to comment on the “state of the Republican party,” I am compelled to write my opinion down so not to be misquoted.
As far as the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, in my lifetime, every Republican candidate has run on the party platform … from Reagan to the present. However, they have never been able to overturn it, as the will of women have always been stronger and will continue to be. It is the responsibility of women in this country to unite across party lines to secure our freedom of choice. And I will continue to fight to protect it! I realize that the position of my party does not align with my own, however, I KNOW that there exists many, many like-minded moderate Republicans who I hear from every day and I speak for today.
The foundation of this party was inclusion. I refuse not to be included. Yet my heart reminds me that I was a female before I was a Republican.
In all honesty, I wish the media would focus more on the pending economic disaster that is inevitable if we have 4 more years of Obama. I would encourage ALL Americans to read the piece in the Wall Street Journal entitled, “The Magnitude of the Mess We’re In,” by Schultz, Boskin, Cogan, Meltzer, and Taylor. THIS is an economic reality check based on facts that needs to be placed front and center on our radar.
Woman will ALWAYS fight … and need to fight for our personal freedom and equality. I will always do so, but right now I am deeply concerned about the fate of our country. We have an obligation to do right by ALL the people.
As for “the 47 %” that Mitt Romney spoke of yesterday, these include seniors who depend on us for basic care and military families who we should honor and support unconditionally… and Mitt Romney does!
I am offended by the liberal media’s portrayal of Romney as an apathetic, disconnected person. I believe that he is a deeply empathetic human being who may not always communicate the spirit of his heart … but doesn’t mean he lacks one.
As for the rest of the 47% … guess what? These are people who don’t want a hand out from Obama. They want JOBS! They want to thrive in this land of opportunity.
I am asking my fellow Republicans not to be derailed right now. The media would like us to believe that we have lost faith in our candidate. What we should all realize is that the Democrats and their candidates have as many challenges as we do, but the press doesn’t report on their dysfunction. It’s ALL about our mistakes. Our heartlessness. Our disconnection with reality. Let’s ask the thousands of families who have lost their homes, jobs and hope over the last four years if they think President Obama is so caring and connected to them? I ask all of you to dig down deep and envision what America was once and should be again.
As Einstein said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” So WHY should Americans elect President Obama for four more years? Do we REALLY think this will produce different results? Are we INSANE?
As always, this is just my opinion. A woman. A Republican. A proud American.
