Boos Subsides as Ryan Explains the Truth

Boos Subsides as Ryan Explains the Truth

The headlines shouted “Ryan Booed!” after Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan dared to enter the lion’s den of the AARP on Friday to talk about Medicare.

But that was near the beginning of his talk. What wasn’t widely reported is that the boos subsided and the applause increased as he explained how Obamacare harms Medicare and how the Romney/Ryan plan would save it.

“We respect you enough to level with you . . . about the clear choices we face on Medicare, Social Security, the economy, and the kind of country our children will inherit,” Ryan said. “Seniors are threatened by Obamacare, a law that would force steep cuts to real benefits in real time for real people. Meanwhile, younger Americans are burdened by an ever-growing national debt and a diminished future.

“The first step toward a stronger Medicare is to repeal Obamacare,” Mr. Ryan said, precipitating the loud boos from the audience. “I had a feeling there would be mixed reactions so let me get into it.”  He then explained in detail the cuts to Medicare which President Obama has signed into law: Obamacare “funnels $716 billion out of Medicare to pay for a new entitlement we didn’t even ask for. Second, it puts 15 unelected bureaucrats in charge of Medicare’s future,” he said.

Ryan cited independent experts to document the inescapable truth that Medicare is going bankrupt and will seriously compromise access to care for seniors and the prosperity of future generations if we don’t fix it.

Ryan is one of the smartest choices Romney made. It is difficult to argue with a clear and intelligent, respectful and unemotional numbers cruncher.

    • Kathy Jenson

      You got that right!

Ryan is an economist, and most likely has an extensive accounting education, too.
Accountants are terrifying, and so are economists—put the two together, and one has a formidible combination!

    The truth be told….

If one was to believe The Obama Zombies that is the mass media we would not need an election. According to them Dirty Diaper Had Obama has not only been reelected president coronated King for life.

One would assume that these idiots in the media are supposedly educated people. Yet it would seem that none of them have looked into what the future would hold for the media under the reign of King Obama. Stop and think for a moment what would be required for Obama to maintain power. First off he must without a doubt disarm the private citizens. This would mean the removal or drastic changes to the Second Amendment. Second of all he would have to maintain total and complete control of all media outlets so that they will only report what he tells them to report. That amounts to the destruction of the mass media as a whole. These morons see that?

    • Zang

rchguns – great post! MSM, supposedly smart educated people, are, as you pointed out, acting like morons. Hard to figure out why!! VOTE ROMNEY/RYAN!!

  • squeak

The Liberal news media are good at putting headlines out there that tells a fraction of what really transpired, in other words they are good at not telling the whole story plus at editing tapes that favor Obama… so what else is new ??

AARP is not a true friend to Seniors. They are LIBERALS and I would not ever have an AARP card or one of their products (I am 69, my husband is 73). And, it is so typical of people who don’t have a clue about one of the most important things in their life–Medicare–to have a knee jerk reaction because they have been brain washed by this liberal group. Too bad Seniors don’t get a little more outraged about the things they really should understand–how the Obama administration INFLUENCES the inflation numbers which are used to measure how much COLA we will get. What do you think we will get this year? Obama and his minions have already said that “food and gas” are not figured into the inflation numbers “because they are too volatile” — really??? No kidding!!!! And, you don’t think they are two of the major causes of inflation??? So, what’s left??? Right now I am hearing 1.4 to 1.6% for the 2013 COLA–whoopti do. But, Obama can divert $716Bil of medicare money (which by the way we seniors paid for in two years without a COLA) to pay for a bunch of lazy people who sit on their ass waiting for a handout while we figure out where we are going to come up with the money to cover the extra 8-30% increases in food/gas/insurance, etc.!!!! No, AARP is no friend of mine–they pushed for Obamacare–you need to remember that!!!!!

    • Kathy Jenson

You said that very eloquently. I didn’t realize how much AARP was in bed with the liberals but when I found out (Thanks to Glenn Beck) I cancelled my card years ago.

      • taliesin319

AARPturned me right off and I ripped my card to shreds when in a Town Hall Meeting a gentleman who could have landed on Omaha Beach was literally told to shut up and sit down. That woman was booed off the podium and the meeting exploded. No apologies were forthcoming and that attitude exists because that organization has been cuddling in bed with Obama since he bought and paid for them to get on board with a program that was hustled into law in the dead of night in the early morning hours on one of the most sacred days in the Christian callendar. The people who passed it did so by selling their votes and not one member of the opposition party had any input. It was literally shoved down the throat of this Nation. AARP was one of the midwives present at the birth of this terratoma. If repealed, as I pray it will be I hope AARP faces bankruptcy and worse. Only the UN is more corrupt.

AARP is getting a kickback from the administration to advertise for Obamacare. I also tore my card up but I mailed mine back to them with a letter.

Every senior friend of mine has also torn up their AARP cards as have my husband and I. Our eyes are open. AARP is in Obama’s pocket and we don’t like it – not one little bit.

It has become crystal clear that Ryan knows more about the effect of Obamacare than Obama does, or Obama lies about.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jahamby Judy Anderson Hamby

      Obama lies about everything.

      • Aristophanes

judy – more truth in that one little sentence than all the words that come out of obama’s mouth!!!

  • peggyc41

Ryan calls the elephant in the room what it is…Obamacare. When he discussed this with Obama, Obama looked like he really didn’t understand Obamacare. He just kind of tried to change the subject. I really wonder how much the President knows about it but to save face he wouldn’t do anything about it if he did. I’m sure he’s hoping Seniors won’t find out about Comfort Care for those 70 and over.
It’s clear the Obama people have most seniors snowed. If they all would just understand that Ryan isn’t the bad guy, Obama is.

    • Shannon

The AARP has always been in OBOZO’s camp. I think most seniors have OBOZO’s number. 70 % of all Americans know that OBOZOCare will not only bankrupt the country but totally ruin our countries great Medical System. Romney/Ryan are telling the TRUTH and most Americans aren’t stupid like the Democraps would like you to think! VOTE ROMNEY/RYAN 2012!

    • http://www.facebook.com/Tommyterrif Tom Stewart

I am 70 and Obama has NOT fooled me since he ran for the Presidency the first time. I did NOT vote for him then and am even less likely to vote for him this time .I believe the Romney/Ryan ticket and getting rid of the liberal majority in the Senate will help us in the long run!!!!! And, yew I am voting for Akin !!!!

      • http://www.facebook.com/jahamby Judy Anderson Hamby

Tom, I am 75 and Obama hasn’t fooled me either. I didn’t vote for him then and I wouldn’t even consider voting for him now. Romney and Ryan are the best team we’ve had in a long time. If I still lived in Missouri I would also vote for Akin.

        • bifatjac

Ditto. I am not in my 70′s but I am old enough to join AARP, which I will not, EVER do. Also from Missouri and couldn’t stand McCaskill.

I withdrew from AARP when they began displaying more and more marxist actors on the covers of their magazine. I had AARP membership since the late nineties, and honestly found only one good article in the book in all that time!
I also disliked their trick of raising the monthly payment without notice, without explanation or even an apology!

  • act

I got rid of my AARP card 20 years ago. Being retired military it was obvious to me what they were so I only stayed with them a couple of months to make sure what they were doing.

  • American Eagle

After reading all of the comments below, my hope in America has been renewed! I stopped believing that any people with brains (and used them) were left. Democrats act like lemmings and talk like donkeys (I guess they are as stubborn as donkeys also). The liberal leftist media and a leftist/Socialist Obama spew lies, racism, divisiveness and negativism. What they accuse the GOP of doing bad, they have either already done so, are doing so or will be doing so. The accusations are just a smokescreen and coordinated with the media. We need to make sure all Republicans are registered to vote – family, neighbors, people in rest homes and our brave soldiers. I read that in 2008 only about 50% of our soldiers were registered to vote; as of a few weeks ago only around 2% were registered. Morale is exceptionally low (wonder why). We need a Republican President to change our course, but we also need a Republican House and Senate to pass the laws needed. My thanks to all of you for your good comments!

AARP has become another “kiss ass” Obama mouthpiece…

  • mcbee555

After AARP exposed itself as a Socialist-themed organization, the first thought I had was that AARP is not a friend of Seniors. I canceled my membership of 24 years, took my auto insurance and homeowners insurance elsewhere, saved $454 per year on the auto policy (same coverages), and saved $92 per year for my Homeowners policy(identical coverage). AARP had cut a deal with the Obama regime to write supplemental health policies designed to augment Obamacare and for that AARP publicly announced approval of Obamacare.

  • Aristophanes

I quit aarp years ago, long before obozo. I thought the organization was not looking out for seniors when I quit. I have a friend (76 years old and, I think, is typical of a lot of seniors) who I have been talking to about aarp; but she would not listen until I printed an article entitled ” Why I Refuse to join the AARP” by David L Goetsch. Very interesting article and very informative. But, she finally listened when I gave her that article.
I think a lot of senior citizens are depending on msm and are not getting the full story. There is even a commercial out for obozo that is from the aarp and it tries to claim that the aarp is non-partisan!! Unfortunately, I think quite a few senior citizens trust aarp and do not want to research it. If my friend is any indication, there are a few seniors who do not like change!
Me, personally: I joined AMAC. Check them out. It is a conservative organization for senior citizens.

  • haroldson

AARP sold the American senior citizens out. they are now trying to get back in good again, I drop ed them 3 years ago and would not go back to them for any reason, They are only there for the money
